A lot of Columbia's housing stock is ranch and brick homes from the 1950s through the 1980s, and many are on their second or third roof. When we tear off, we often find softened decking around chimneys, valleys, and vent pipes. We replace it before new underlayment and shingles go on, so the new roof is sitting on solid wood.
